Tafsir Ibn Abbas: Ash-Shura, Ayah 41

Ash-Shura · Ayah 41 · View Ayah
وَلَمَنِ ٱنتَصَرَ بَعْدَ ظُلْمِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَا عَلَيْهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ
And whoever avenges himself after having been wronged - those have not upon them any cause [for blame].

Ibn Abbas Commentary

(And whoso defendeth himself) and he who reclaims his right through the law of retaliation (after he hath suffered wrong for such, there is no way (of blame) against them) i.e. by applying the law of retaliation against them.

And whoever defends himself after he has been wronged that is to say after the wrongdoer has wronged him — for such there will be no course of action against them no blame on them.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying:

Narrated by It was narrated from 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded that snakes be killed and he said:

He who disapproves is guiltless, and he who disapproves is safe. Qatadah said : it means one who feels its disapproval in his heart, and one who expresses disapproval in his heart.

Narrated by Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Umar for (collecting) Sadaqa (zakat), and it was said that Ibn Jamil, Khalid b. Walid and 'Abbas the uncle of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), refused (to pay it). Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

"Whoever has relations with beast, then there is no legal punishment for him."
