Tafsir Ibn Abbas: Qaaf, Ayah 23

وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ هَٰذَا مَا لَدَىَّ عَتِيدٌ
And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared."

Ibn Abbas Commentary

(And (unto the evil-doer) his comrade) the angel who recorded his good deeds; and it is said: the angel who recorded his evil works (saith: This is that which I have) this is that which with you have entrusted me (ready (as testimony)).

Narrated by The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Abu Musa from the Prophet (ﷺ) through a different chain of narrators up to “and its taste bitter”. Ibn Mu`adh added:
