He said ‘I shall take refuge in a mountain that will protect me preserve me from the water’. Said he ‘This day there is none that can protect from God’s command from His chastisement except — but — him on whom He God has mercy’ he will be protected. God exalted be He says And the waves came between them so he was among the drowned.

that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When Allah drowned Fir'awn he said: 'I believe that there is no god except the One that the children of Isra'il believe in.' So Jibrail said: 'O Muhammad! If you could only have seen me, while I was taking (the mud) from the sea, and filling his mouth out of fear that the mercy would reach him.'"

Jami` at-Tirmidhi #2561'Abdullah bin 'Amr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:Sahih

"A man among those before you went out arrogantly in a Hullah of his. So Allah ordered the earth to take him. He remains sinking" - or he said - "He will remain sinking into it until the Day of Judgement."

Sahih Muslim #4806A version of the tradition narrated on the authority of Suhail contains the additional words:Sahih

" And one who is drowned is a martyr."

Sunan Ibn Majah #2514It was narrated that Sulaim bin ‘Amr said:Sahih

I heard Abu Umamah saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “The martyr at sea is like two martyrs on land, and the one who suffers seasickness is like one who gets drenched in his own blood on land. The time spent between one wave and the next is like a lifetime spent in obedience to Allah. Allah has appointed the Angel of Death to seize souls, except for the martyr at sea, for Allah Himself seizes their souls. He forgives the martyrs on land for all sins except debt, but (He forgives) the martyr at sea all his sins and his debt.”

Sahih Muslim #365Abu Nadra narrated it from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri who reported it from the Apostle (ﷺ) a similar (hadith) up to the words:Sahih

" in the mud of the flood," and he did not mention (the words narrated) after it.
